This issue of "BBC Wildlife" contains a portfolio of photographs by primate carer David Haring. The seven-page article (pp. 17-23) is entitled "BBC Wildlife Magazine: Portfolio: David Haring" and includes 20 colour photographs, 17 of which are of the lemurs of Madagascar.

The species depicted are: Coquerel's Sifaka (Propithecus verreauxi coquereli [now Propithecus coquereli]) (two photos, one of a juvenile), a juvenile Black Lemur (Eulemur macaco macaco), a juvenile Crowned Lemur (Eulemur coronatus), Red Ruffed Lemur (Varecia variegata rubra [now Varecia rubra]), Ring-tailed Lemur (Lemur catta), Sanford's Lemur (Eulemur fulvus sanfordi [now Eulemur sanfordi]), Red-bellied Lemur (Lemur rubriventer [now Eulemur rubriventer]), Collared Brown Lemur (Eulemur fulvus collaris [now Eulemur collaris]), Black Lemur (Eulemur macaco macaco), Blue-eyed Black Lemur (Eulemur macaco flavifrons), Grey Gentle Lemur (Hapalemur griseus), Crowned Lemur (Eulemur coronatus), Aye-Aye (Daubentonia madagascariensis) (two photos), Coquerel's Sifaka (Propithecus verreauxi coquereli [now Propithecus coquereli]), and Golden-Crowned Sifaka (Propithecus tattersalli).

David Haring is a 'primate carer' at the Duke University Primate Center, in North Carolina, set up 25 years ago to further primate conservation through captive-breeding and behavioural research. For the past 10 years, he has had privileged access to its unique band of lemurs, lorises and tarsiers.
