The full-page colour illustration on the front of this issue is entitled "Expédition de Madagascar: Un Rue de Tananarive" ["Madagascar Expedition: An Antananarivo Street"]. A second full-page colour illustration on the back cover of this issue is entitled "Expédition de Madagascar: Victoire!" ["Madagascar Expedition: Victory!"]. The French took the capital city on 1 October 1895. This issue of "Le Petit Journal: Supplément Illustré" was published less than four weeks later.
