This aircraft, registration 5R-MFT (constructor number 21614, line number 353) is a Boeing 747, specifically B747-2B2B(M). Its first flight was in 1979 and spent its entire working life as part of the Air Madagascar fleet, from January 1979 to July 2000, after which it put into storage in France and later transferred to the UK for scrapping in December 2003. It was initially named "Tolom Piavotana" in 1979 but renamed "Ankoay" the following year.
