A Malagasy banknote issued by Banky Foiben'i Madagasikara
to the value of 500 Ariary. On the front is depicted an old Malagasy woman sewing, and on the reverse oriented vertically, a grey heron, radiated tortoise, Verreaux's sifaka, and nymphalid butterfly. There is a watermark of a zebu head. This design dates back to 1992, but notes bearing this signature (Gouverneur Gaston Edouard Ravelojaona) were not introduced until 1996.
